The Connestee Fall’s Wellness Center 5K Through the Hills is back! It is open to all residents and the general public so this is a great way to experience Connestee Falls on a course that includes the cart path along the front nine of the golf course.
The event is scheduled for Wednesday October 1st, and we encourage everyone to come out and give it their all. The event will be located at The Track at Connestee Falls and will begin at 7:30 am.
A registration form should be filled out and returned to the Wellness Center. Click here to download one.
Connestee Falls Wellness Center Program Supervisor Diana Grimm says it is never too late to register for the 5K Through the Hills. Participants can even register at the event. But complimentary t-shirts and other supplies are limited and might not be available without an advance registration. She encourages those interested to register early.
The 5K started in 2011 on the 10 year anniversary of the Connestee Wellness Program and has now become an annual event.
Participants meet at the track, run one time around, then head out to the golf course to run the cart path of the front 9 holes, and finally back for one more “rocky style” turn around the track to cross the finish line. In an effort to include more participants, there is also an option to do 10 laps around the track to qualify for the 3.1 mile distance. Both options can be a “fun” walk/run or a sprint!
After the challenge, participants are offered drinks and a healthy breakfast. Everyone gets a commemorative t-shirt as well. The event has been well attended with excellent fall weather in the past and the same is anticipated for the 2014 run.
Each year, the man to beat is Connestee Falls POA general manager Jim Lorah…He has dropped the gauntlet for all comers to challenge his pace this year.
Come be a part of this fun fitness event and the beautiful fall season at Connestee Falls.
