The Connestee Art League has grown to 80 members who meet for 2 1/2 hours every Monday to paint, critique each other's work, and to provide instruction for painting beginners. Once a month the group has a meeting at which professional artists working in a variety of media do hands-on demonstrations.
In addition to continuous art showings in our clubhouse, the Art League has an "Annual Connestee Art Exhibit" that is judged by a professional and a yearly luncheon at which ribbons for the show are awarded. The group also contributes to and participates in the Transylvania Arts Council, summer art programs for the Brevard Boys & Girls Club, and the Brevard Music Center Yearly Gala at which a montage of 5x7 canvases are auctioned off to benefit the Music Center.
Working in oils, watercolor, collage, pastels, and acrylics, many of the members have had entries in National and International Art Shows and have extensive experience teaching in various media techniques. In addition to giving group workshops, these members also give private lessons in their homes.
